The Jollof Experience: A Journey Across West Africa

Three countries. Three flavors. It's a story.

Jollofris is one of West Africa's most beloved dishes -- a dish that brings people together and is carried by generations of tradition. During this lunch you will taste three different interpretations of jollof, inspired by the cuisines of Senegal, Ghana and Nigeria.

On the menu: a taste of Senegambian heritage rice with roots in the origins of the jollof, classic Ghanaian jollof with rich spices and rich tomato base, and a fragrant coconut jollof with Nigerian influences. For each serving, choose between suya-spiced chicken inspired by West African fast food — or koose, crispy fritters on black-eyed beans, for those who prefer vegetarian.

The dish is topped with fresh herbs, crispy onions and a taster of Sarah's signature shito, her own sauce.

Lunches and a Story at the Vegetable Square

In the middle of central Gothenburg, we set up a long table and invite you to a lunch you will not find in any restaurant in the city, any other time of the year.

Every day for five weekdays, a local food profile cooks a lunch based on a story. From locally grown vegetables and fish from the sea outside the city, from the vibrant food heritage of the outer city to the inner city squares — this is a table where Gothenburg's food stories are served by those who live them. This is an opportunity where we meet through the food around the table and get a taste of how Gothenburg's food culture is being shaped right now.
