Women's Association Hoppet från Hammarkullen sets up for a taste journey from suburb to inner city. The Hope is a non-profit association that helps women in the locality cook and sell their food, as a means to achieve independence. Hajar Alsaidan founded The Hope in 2011 by when she was 13 years old. During the meal, Hajar talks about the path from alienation to cookbook.
During three weekdays we set up a long table in central Gothenburg and invite you to taste and stories from Gothenburg's suburbs — Hammarkullen, Biskopsgården and Bergsjön. Through the concept of “Orten till Kungporten”, Food Fest Gothenburg together with local cultural organisations, networks and profiles from Biskopsgården, Bergsjön and Hammarkullen wants to highlight the food culture and stories of the suburbs.
Each day, a lunch is served where guests share a lunch that reflects the respective area's food culture and stories. Come, sit down, share a meal and take part in the stories that shape Gothenburg — from Orten to Kungporten.
