Licorice tasting on the theme Flavor licorice
What is licorice? What does licorice taste like? What flavors go well with licorice? Welcome to the charcoal factory in Pellerins and join us on a journey in the world of liquorice! Discover the taste of licorice and learn how to cook with this versatile flavoring. First you get to taste raw licorice in different forms while I tell you about the raw material; what licorice is, how it is grown, processed and used in everything from medicine and shampoo to sweets and cooking. Next, we will devote ourselves to the main theme: how licorice tastes and can be used in both desserts and food. All this is accompanied by self-made sweets and pastries. By exploring together how the liquorice taste can be described and what raw materials it goes with, I hope you get many ideas for experimenting with licorice at home. The tasting is interspersed with knowledge and curiosities about licorice. About Desserts Without Borders The tasting is held by Lotta Raab from Desserter Sans Frontieres. My business is all about sweet taste experiences. Ever since I started the company in 2010, I have been fascinated by and explored the taste liquorice. Already during my first talk at the Licorice Festival in 2011, the taste experience was central. It has since become the signum of my licorice tastings. If we develop our sense of taste and smell, we will be better at cooking good food! We are based in Pellerin's margarine factory in Gothenburg and our goal is to become the meeting place for liquorice here in the city. In the charcoal workshop we make handmade toffee and caramel sauce with Salmiakkolan at the head. Welcome to the coal workshop for tasting, liquorice cafe, market and other events! *Date & Time: *\ September 17, 18:00-20:00. Grandma's magic: cook, taste, remember
My mother — the grandmother of my children — is the inspiration behind Grandma's Delicatessen. In our home, food was always more than food — an act of love, filled with warmth, curiosity and care. I grew up with pickled vegetables, slow cooker and bell pepper ears — plant-based dishes that have been commonplace with us for generations, long before words like vegetarian or vegan existed, and which today find homes with foodies and plant-based enthusiasts alike. When I started Grandmor's Delikatesser, I wanted to carry these flavors forward with sustainability in focus. I grow my own, use garden fruit and adapt the recipes according to Swedish ingredients. It's not about recreating, it's about continuing a tradition with the heart of the present. During the conversation, I share the story of the food, the heritage and the company — and offer tastings of some of our classics. Afterwards we will hold a workshop where you will try to cook some of our favorite dishes including banitza, or burek as it is also called, Bulgaria's favorite salad Shopska, deep-fried zuccini plates, Snejanka- tzatziki our way. And more. We end the evening together by eating what we have prepared, like a small Balkan feast with a lot of taste and warmth. Welcome to a tasting experience with Maia Maksimova, Grandma's Delicatessen. With roots in the Balkans and the heart of the present. *Location: * House of Possibilities in Backa\ \ *Date & Time: *\ September 13, 13:00-16:00 One of many flavorful experiences during Food Fest Gothenburg 12-21 September. A bite of culture at Bergsjön Kulturhus
Come and sit down at the table that offers a drama, a folk dance and a bite of what suits. A chew culture is a whole new form of food and cultural experience where young creatives are at the center. Combining drama, moving visual art and taste, the audience is offered a multidimensional experience that touches all the senses, opens up conversations and lifts young people's voices, which also opens up recognition and conversation around the table. A Chew Culture is a seated dinner performance in two acts, featuring tastings created by young people from Mountain Lake with the support of Rim Masharawi and Jasmine Soufi. Food is mixed with cultural experiences through the short play Father's Day performed by Asta Lundgren and Eskil Lundgren and a moving visual artwork by Medina Balešić. The experience ends with a conversation with the audience. We hope that, together with you who participate, we can spark new thoughts about art, contemporary art and community. En tugga kultur is an artistic dining experience with recurring collaborations based on the voices of young people in Gothenburg.
